I got the idea from a question asked on 'fuck yeah chicks with tattoos'... and it made me think... there really aren't a lot of pictures of black chicks with tattoos easily accessible in one place on the internet.
so i made a place for them!
I've also branched off into posting girls of other ethnic backgrounds, as well as art... this blog isn't just about showing black chicks anymore, I'm here to showcase all minorities!

April 18th: I've decided to finally change the name and url of this site... Colourd Girls With Ink... it abbreviates better...

I’ve always loved henna designs and thought I’d get one done on my arm, my Mum comes from south africa and my dad is from Devon, I think to me your first tattoo represents spontinaity(sp), living in the moment and individuality, because I don’t really feel my tattoo has a secret meaning I think because I got it speaks for itself. I love this site, such inspiration to get another :D
Young peul girl in Mali tattooing her mouth with needles and henna. Mouth tattoos are very common among the peul / fulani. It is practiced since the puberty of the girls and is restricted to the bottom part of the lip. When the woman is married, the upper part is also tattooed in black. Nowadays it is considered as ornaments, a touch of beauty and a sign of belonging. One of the theories to explain the practice is common for many other African tribes: the tattoo was used to deter slavers looking for unblemished girls.
The Fulanis women are tattooed of black on the edge of the mouth. This tattoo is practiced since the puberty for the girls; it is restricted to the bottom part of the lip but, when the woman is married, it must spread to the whole edge.
I want a turban. Not necessarily like this but I want one.
My henna tattoo. GAH Mama Deenz, I tried to submit on the pods but it wouldn’t let me. :T
The truth is we all really love curls. We just act like we prefer straight hair to maintain the facade.(via heezdopethiop) she’s beautiful, i know right ?!?! <3
I see henna. I’ve been thinking about getting a henna tattoo design on my own hand. They look so eccentric and I hear they last a while.
Of course I agree with sensuallyblack though.
i’m leaving all the reblog text up there, because i support this. as a black woman, with curls, and who’s also a (somewhat) natural… i’m addicted to hair dye… and yes, i consider henna a form of tattoo… it’s older than the art of tattooing… “or something like that”
